EA Sports has confimed the "first truly next-generation rally game" EA Sports WRC will launch for PS5 on 3rd November 2023. Packing 18 official FIA World Rally Championship locations, 10 current WRC, WRC2, and Junior WRC vehicles, and another 68 classic race cars, lots of new features from the Codemasters-developed title are set to propel the experience into the modern era. Using Codemasters' previous work on the DiRT Rally games as a basis, the Dynamic Handling System is set to deliver "the most realistic off-road experience to date". New drivers can keep things simple with personalised handling settings while rally veterans can opt for an experience that's said to mirror what professionals face out on the track. This level of customisation extends to the audio, where beginners can select to receive simplified instructions from their co-driver.
Elsewhere, the Builder option then lets you put together your very own rally car. "Select the chassis, body shells, and all-important mechanical parts before customising the interior and exterior, finally personalising with the livery editor. Put the car through its paces and make any necessary adjustments before competing for the World Championship against the best competition WRC has to offer," a press release reveals.

Heading online will matchmake you into 32-player lobbies where you can race for the fastest times, while the Moments tab recreates important moments from the 2023 season alongside classic events pulled out of the archives. Pre-orders of EA Sports WRC on the PS Store will net you three days of early access (from 31st October 2023) and five VIP Passes, which contain post-launch content.

I liked the WRC games that we got before but I assume this will have a bigger budget! Hopefully it doesn’t have too many EA MTX elements to compromise.
I think Generations offers enough to keep us entertained for years. Seems like since it was their farewell game they just put as much as possible content in.
The new one might have better graphics, but with a rally game that really makes no difference at all. If you try to look at the graphics for half a second you're out of the rally.

It might be worth checking out, but I want two important features to be confirmed before I do:
1. Gyro steering that's on the same level as Gran Turismo 7. I've honestly never felt anything like it. It's as close as it gets to steering on a steering wheel peripheral.
2. Split screen multiplayer. I want to race with somebody playing next to me in both offline and online races.

@Smash41 the car building feature worries me too as it sounds like a vehicle (pun intended) to sell their cosmetics etc..
Oh well, currently still working my way through WRC Generations so I'm in no hurry. If it turns out to be microtransaction hell I'll just wait for a sale.

@Flurpsel When I heard about it I immediately thought. Are we getting a Sega GT style system maybe? I know it won't it will be cosmetics/liveries not custom parts/custom manufacturer or team type that Sega GT did in a primitive form (no idea how Apex on Xbox may do things if it had one I think).
It am skeptical about the feature though as I don't know what it 'actually' is yet.
Either way if couldn't tell I want a Sega GT or improved system of a car builder but no one will do it I doubt it. There is a reason why with Forza Motorsport 8 I went 'oh cool a grid payout feature' and that's it. Besides 'wow a bunch of montage footage no wonder I'm not interested they won't show me anything actually exciting and blink in and out the tuning in the trailer then the extended gameplay I had to see what they'd done' XD Though the more they did tell me the more I got less interested. Cough online required aside.
Cool ideas I seek (have many old racing games having a blast uncovering what had been done before, left behind, if they were gems or not), if the games themselves don't do much (besides well playing well) in the content areas of their career modes or eh driving models (if realistic it's fine if I can't play them that's on me to get good indeed though I am willing to).
I haven't kept up with the current WRC/F1/MotoGP games so I'm out of the loop how many of them may be in execution and only looked at brief reviews of some entries.

Sigh if only. But for a annual series doubt it and otherwise how good it would be who knows.
The fact that this launches in november and there has been no actual footage of the game running has alarm bells ringing for me. Is it going to be rushed out of the gate without key features present (pga road to the masters i'm looking right at you there)? I'll bet the micro transactions are all in place though. I think i'll wait at least 3 months before thinking about this one until its actually finished.
When Codies got the official license from under the nose of French Developers Kylotonn who had the License since 2015 who arguably made a decent game especially the last 4....I was excited ..but then Electronic Arts bought them..now I am just not surprised anymore about the Business of the Games industry...imma go create summit in Dreams ooh I could crush a grape.
@SuntannedDuck2 last F1 and Motogp games I played were still fun. Dirt Rally 2 ofcourse had a bit of a ***** monetization but I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I'll definitely wait for reviews though.
I’m 8/10 hyped. The extra 2 points would’ve been added for some extra gameplay showing… actual gameplay instead of just snazzy ultra-controlled-environment replays.
Either way I’m going to preorder. VERY excited! Those dust trails look next-gen. I wonder if we’ll hear the co-driver voices stuttering as we hit bumpy terrain. That would be immersive and amazing…
