Topic: Games you've recently beat

@HallowMoonshadow I guess we have a very different taste in gaming then. For over 20 years, Chrono Trigger has been the example of a great JRPG to me. It's a game which, conciously or unconciously, I compare every other JRPG that I play with.

This conversation has now made me even more wary of Chrono Cross!

Ha! Indeed we apparently do and that's what makes this hobby fun and unique @Kidfried!

I'll try to remember to give you a tag when I properly start playing Chrono Cross to give some actual impressions of it.

At 21 hours with my party at lvl 50 exactly I finally beat Okage: Shadow King

It's rather flawed with an average battle system and a some weird pacing issues but it has OODLES of charm and personality.

I loved the story, I loved the characters, I loved the art style and it was a grand ol' time.

It's been a hot minute since I've finished a game because I've been mostly playing Tokyo Xanadu the past month. But now I've finally finished Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain on PS4 after 13 hours of playtime. It was my first EDF game and it was a blast! I started playing it on Normal but quickly realised that this is one of those mindless games where I just want to put on a podcast and shoot some stuff, so I lowered it to Easy. Definitely enjoyed it more this way. It felt a bit too long since the later missions didn't feel any different from the previous ones (same maps, same enemies and so on). But it ended on a high note and I enjoyed my time with this game overall.

Although it's definitely one of those games that I'd only play once a year, just like the LEGO games, because they can get quite repetitive.

Just finished Assassin's Creed: Mirage on PS5 after 27 hours of playtime. My experience of it was for the most part positive, but towards the end it got a little bit sour. Some missions exhibited difficulty spikes and some were incredibly repetitive. I just wanted to get to the end at that point.

Moreover, I was trying to clean up any leftover trophies as I was going for the Platinum. Unfortunately, the game has some missable trophies, which really sucks. The trophy list is otherwise rather straightforward. But after looking up the one trophy I missed, I decided to abandon the Platinum as I would need to start a new playthrough and play for several hours before getting to a point where I could get this trophy. Considering I just want to be done with the game, I genuinely can't be bothered playing it anymore, especially not for a trinket.

The ending was a bit confusing and not satisfying in all honesty.

It's nice to play an AC game that's traditional but as I've said in other places, it just felt like more of the same. The missions became so same-y towards the end. At least the game is short and you could probably finish it in 15 hours or so if you just focus on the story.

All in all, this was a good entry in the series but I'm probably going to forget about it in a couple of months. It's just another AC game that we've already experienced a dozen times over.

I think I have unlocked All songs from Dance Dance Revolution X PS2 USA several minutes ago.
It was pretty tough the last mission to unlock the Boss songs.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction - Pretty good, a definite dip from the quality of the PS2 games and the increase in fidelity actually loses a lot of the charm from the older games which is more obvious now that we’re 15 years removed from the game. The story’s alright but completely neutered, especially the comedy which is so beige compared to the often witty and zany earlier entries. Basically it’s like a playable Pixar movie except a Pixar movie released in the past few years. Mixed all round. Plus there was properly terrible motion controls, I forgot how bad the Sixaxis was.

Ratchet and Clank: Quest For Booty - Like 3 hours long. Half of which is crap. Enough said.

Neither of them had trophies. Probably moving onto A Crack in Time now.

@nessisonett A Crack in Time was enjoyable for me back when I played it. I’ve not played all the R&C games, but it was probably my favorite of those I have played.

I was halfway through 'completing' The Quarry but it was taken off Plus yesterday, so there goes that!

Just rolled the credits on Resident Evil Village (PS5).
Played through it on standard difficulty, clocked in just over 10 and a half hours. Really enjoyed it. Beat the second to last boss on the first attempt and the last boss on the second attempt. Was very Resident Evil throughout. Feel pretty bad for the protagonist Ethan for his treatment during the events of the game and for his ending.

Looking forward to getting back to it for collectables and trophies et cetera. Let's see how scary those monsters are when I turn up with infinite ammo shotgun in hand.

Beat The Lost Legacy. Truly brilliant, probably my second favourite after 4 now. Perfect length, really liked the open area and it has a fantastic ending. The relationships between the main 3 characters was great too, I’d definitely play a whole series of games without Nathan if the supporting cast has this much to offer.

Was slightly odd but kinda funny to have M.I.A. suddenly start blaring during the credits but she’s a perfect choice really considering she’s probably one of the biggest South Asian stars in the UK at least.

@nessisonett As would I. I'm a huge Uncharted fan, but regardless I'd gladly play at least another game starring Chloe and friends. It'd be a shame and a bit of a missed opportunity if we don't get any new non-Nathan Uncharted games ever again.

@KilloWertz @RogerRoger With the way it ends, you could reasonably get another game with Chloe and Nadine. You could also get one with Sam and Sully or even bring Charlie back cause Sully’s getting on a bit!

@nessisonett Yeah, there are several options to continue the Uncharted series without Nathan. They could even do one with Nathan and Elena's daughter Cassie. I'd probably prefer another one with Chloe and Nadine first, but one with Cassie could be fun too.

With Naughty Dog's output being virtually non-existent this whole generation so far, I am less optimistic we'll get any of the options than I would have been at the three year point with the PS4, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised someday once all of the GaaS games fail.

@KilloWertz I’m sure Naughty Dog can remake some other stuff and chuck a GAAS out before they even think about anything worthwhile.

I love Uncharted I don't really mind who a new game focuses on I just want be playing Uncharted again. Iove the whole hunting for treasure thing I even like the newer Tomb raider trilogy even though I also think it's terrible.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Very very good. The Quake engine just feels great so that in WW2 is a recipe for success. Loved the D-Day mission and the more army focused missions, they’re so much more tense with no regenerating health. The Saving Private Ryan influences moving through the city are very apparent, I’m not sure if Spielberg was still involved in this game but it wouldn’t surprise me! I have a couple expansion packs to play and I think one of them has Gary Oldman in it who clearly loved doing voices for those sorts of games.

@nessisonett My dad is a massive WW2 nerd and loves Saving Private Ryan, so you can imagine how he felt playing that game. Think it was one of the games that got him into gaming.

Beat Infamous Second Son recently (started up First Light) and Dodge Racing Charger Vs. Charger for Wii I got enough of the top 3 podium, did the 15-30 (day and night) races, got 2 cars, did the 2 bonus tracks I got the collectibles for and went yeah this was a fine car advertising game.

Have yet to try and finish Medal of Honor games (Frontline, Rising Sun and European Assault) I got to the last level of MOH Vanguard and died and went nah too far to go through with checkpoints ending it there even the second last level I took a bit to get through. May or may not retry COD Finest Hour, that defending the area from rocket launchers and turrets as they run across one after exiting the tunnels is a challenge.

Got a bunch of games across consoles (retro mostly) to play. But doing a GT3 US/EU cars only run on two different memory cards for a bit.

Started Driver San Francisco and Test Drive Unlimited 2 on 360/Driver San Francisco 360 disk through Xbox One recently. And Tom Clancy's Advanced Warfighter 1 and looked at the menus/testing of Future Soldier.

Got so many things across PS2/3/Wii/4/Xbox 360/Xbox One mostly, some 2022 titles, some particular first and third party retro titles of genres. The odd Switch games and Vita/3DS/PSP/DS I picked up and either played a lot of or trialed.

Like Driver Renegade I know is bad but I kind of enjoyed it and did about half the story, and good amount to maybe 70% of the side missions I do need to get back into it (bought and played it before San Fransisco so is my first Driver title), bit of Mario Tennis Open, bit of Batman Blackgate. Still going at Killzone Mercenary, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Disgaea 3 on Vita.

I'll get there and finish Valkyrie Elysium, Diofield Chronicles (both fair way through) and Tactics Ogre Reborn on PS4 over time.
