Also, the Arsenal woman's team are coming out and apologising for a 'lack of diversity' in their team? What does that even mean? Is picking your starting XI based on how diverse your squad is more important than picking the squad that's going to win you the game?

It's a good thing when a football club tries to make the sport more inclusive to everyone.
For example, there are pretty much no queer soccer players in the male competition. I mean, maybe every team tries to pick the best players and it just happens that heterosexual players are better than gay players. That's the simple explanation, but not the truth.
The truth is that in the world of soccer there is a history (and a present) of bullying gay men. They are treated unfairly and excluded. And the result of this exclusive (as opposed to inclusive) behavior men either stay closeted or don't become pro soccer players at all.
So the fact that I cannot name an example of any pro soccer player from my country, is not because of a coincidence. It's well established that there is a problem within the soccer community that needs to fix, if we want more diverse teams. Now, diverse teams are not a goal in itself, but when teams are not diverse, it can be a telltale that exclusionary behavior is happening at some level.
And if that is happening, that means that actually decisions on who gets to become a pro and who doesn't, isn't based on skill alone.
The knee jerk reaction isn't necessary, and the transphobia was truly uncalled for.
@Kidfried Players should be picked based on skill and the ability to field the best team to win games. If they're good enough, they'll be picked. That's literally what they're employed by their respective clubs to do. This is regardless of their skin colour, sexuality, etc. It's as simple as that. Football is for everyone and those who sing racist chants, for example, aren't real fans and should rightfully be called out.
And I don't see any transphobia here. No-one's got an irrational fear or hatred towards trans people here — at least I certainly don't. Maybe look up what a 'phobia' actually is and stop spouting nonsense and using some popular catchphrase to make yourself feel good.
It's also none of our business who has what sexual orientation, so why do you care so much who other people are interested in?

Transphobia is more than irrational fear or hatred towards trans people. Ridiculing the concept of gender identity, which you did, can also be considered transphobia.

Had been rewatching some of Son’s highlights from the Fulham game and I genuinely believe he’s the most clinical 9 in the world right now.

It’s funny seeing the Spurs fans who scoffed at Ange now seeing what a quality manager he is. Torn between wanting him to do well and wanting to see Spurs fans disappointed.
