The game was ok for what it was, I kept trying to parry as I'm so used to the Batman Arkham games, Also wasn't such a fan of the ending.

Yeah, don't worry, you're not alone in occasionally trying to parry!

At least you sound a little more positive than negative, even if it didn't manage to stick the landing. Glad you managed to find the fun along the way.

That's precisely where I abandoned it. I struggled through a lot to reach that point, and had already skipped a lot of the Cyber Space stages (which were a triumph in the core game, so it was a real shame to have to abandon two of 'em without even completing a basic run, let alone any of the ridiculous bonus objectives). It's just such a bizarre flex from Sonic Team.
Don't let it ruin the core game's brilliance, though. Think you'll ever give it a try

First of all sorry for the late reply and secondly I definitely want to give Sonic Frontiers a go Rog.

Not sure how it is on PS4 (Pretty sure it is cross gen right?) but I'd rather wait til I have a PS5 to play it in the best possible light anyway.

I hope the difficulty gets sorted out with a patch (if it hasn't already) so you can actually witness the new ending yourself!

Just got the plat for Spider-Man 2 and I wanted something short and sweet to play until Alan Wake II is released, so I went with Metal Gear Solid. It’s definitely aged, but there’s something undeniably special about it, even now.

It’s weird going from Spider-Man 2 to this…

Although saying that, I still find it to be graphically impressive for a PS1 game.

@HallowMoonshadow No apology necessary, and yeah, I think you're smart to wait. From what I gather, the PS4 version is perfectly lovely (and the gap between it and the PS5 is barely noticeable, especially compared to the yawning chasm between it and the Switch port) but it's the kinda game where knowing that it's being its best possible self can be a reassuring comfort, if that makes sense. And besides, the longer you wait, the more chance there is of a patch to fix the DLC's difficulty!

@Bentleyma As somebody who's "gone back in time" like that a couple times before, I can sympathise with how jarring that must've been! You're right about the vibes, though. Seeing all the Metal Gear headlines floating around this week, and now watching your clip up there, makes me wanna replay 'em all for myself. It's such a hugely compelling series. Hope you enjoy!

@RogerRoger I’m enjoying it a lot more than I did when I was a kid. I used to skip all the Codec conversations and most of the topics the game discusses were a little too mature for me back then. Now I’m listening to everything and I understand it a lot more it’s made it a better experience. Plus I notice all the small details that impress me even now.

@Bentleyma I never did play the Metal Gear Solid games when I was younger, so I'm looking forward to picking this up and giving them a bash. Hopefully the games within the newly released collection hold up well!

@Bentleyma Yeah, it's absolutely the kind of series I'd recommend replaying every once in a while, as you'll invariably find so many extra details and new ways of thinking about its messages and themes each and every time. That it's a great "toy" separate from all that only adds to the experience.

@KAIRU Same here. I've only ever played 4 and 5, so we both have a lot of Metal Gear Solid to play in the future.

With the year being so loaded, along with early next year, I have no idea when that will be. Someday though, someday.

MGS was just mind blowing at the time.

The demo that came with OPM let you play up until you enter the hangar after crossing the helipad and I must have played it soooo many times. It was such an amazing, cinematic opening which felt like nothing I’d seen before; maybe only that short into to FF7 feeling as epic.

So many little touches now that wouldn’t seem quite so crazy, like the codec code on the back of the box or having to watch guards’ bum movements to find the person you’re looking for!

Amazing boss fights too that were just such an amazing step up from the previous console generation.

@KilloWertz This year has been quite crazy in regards to quality games! So many to play!

Gotham Knights is… odd. Elements are pretty good but it’s really hard not to compare it to Arkham and the physics in particular feel so loose and weightless that it throws everything a bit off. Went with Robin first and he’s alright, if nothing particularly exciting. Apparently I’ve to wait until the traversal opens up to really judge the game though.

@nessisonett Robin is my favourite Knight in every other respect, but his traversal skill is unquestionably the worst (at least from a gameplay perspective; as an in-universe solution it's rather genius). Just a friendly heads-up in case you unlock it and immediately wanna condemn the game as being a disaster!

@RogerRoger I decided to alternate them across the first few nights just to get a feel for each hero. I really like Batgirl (loved that DLC in Arkham Knight too) but I don’t think her conversations have been as interesting as Robin’s so it’s always hard in these things because I’m not sure if I’m missing out on interesting dialogue.

@nessisonett Yeah when I was watching a bit of gameplay, I liked Batgirl's combat out of the four of them. But thought her VO was awful, which put me off even more than the mid reviews.

Hi there fellow gamers.
As of now I´m currently playing Spider-Man 2 and Street Fighter 6 World Tour mode.
Having a lot of just pure FUN web swinging and gliding in SM2 and finding new masters in SF6.
Still don´t know if I´m getting Alan Wake 2, since it´s only digital as of now, so that one might just have to wait until I´m done with other games from the backlog..... Wich are quite a few.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming

@Bentleyma Hey there friend.
Man, Metal gear Solid is just one of the most amazing gaming series I´ve ever played and replayed. Still have my entire collection of each individual games as well as the MGS Collection that came out on PS3.
The fact that to this day I still remember pretty much every dialogue from MGS1 is kinda crazy. But also great in it´s own way.
Tell me something if you can, does it run and play well on the PS5? I heard some negatives about it, so I`m still on the fence about getting that one. Would apreciate any feedback on it.
Cheers and have a good one

I am doing similar i love the flying part, i am spending a bit of time taking pictures and stopping crime to level up i am in no hurry to finish this.

@RaZieLDaNtE it played perfectly fine. My only real complaint is that sometimes it would do this thing during cutscenes where it would go very blurry. I’m not sure if it’s the way they did their own type of motion blur back then that doesn’t translate well to modern TV’s or if it’s a different issue. Other than that I recommend it.
