Now that's what I call a platinum @nessisonett
Well done friend! One of my favourite games of recent years but not for everyone (two people I convinced to buy it really didn't get on with it). Are you going for all DLC trophies as well, I think I gave up with the Bullets true last ending and never went back.
And congrats to all the recent platinum poppers out there that I've neglected to notice.
Unpacking. It's a decent game. I kinda went from being amused, to enjoying it a lot, to just being slightly amused. I think the concept is great, and so is the pixel art (!). I always loved furnishing a home in The Sims, and this felt like a very neat spin on it.I think they could and should have made a more interesting story out of this to make it essential gaming. I won't spoil it, except for saying they ended the game in the least interesting possible way, while leaving out a lot of interesting opportunities for gameplay or story. The lacking ending is why I wouldn't simply recommend this to everyone.
Also, and this is purely personal, I never like the inclusion of typical millennial stuff in games. Major turnoff. It's the equivalent of making a game about a writer with a writer's block. But I feel like many people might really appreciate seeing ukelele's, D20's and houseplants. So it might be the opposite for them.
I rank this game a decent out of 10.
Ghost Trick I liked Phoenix Wright, but even though I have the trilogy, I never felt excited to play beyond the first game. There's something about the balance between visual novel and point-and-click gameplay, that always bothered me a bit. Am I really playing, or am I just clicking until the story progresses?
Good thing I didn't realize Ghost Trick was made by Phoenix Wright's creator! Because otherwise I would have not bought it instead, and forced myself to play more Phoenix Wright first. And that would have been a shame, because I rate this game an excellent out of 10.
Imagine Phoenix Wright, but with better writing and interesting puzzles. The pacing of this game is so much better, with a lot less content that feels like padding. I was excited for every dialogue, but similarly I was excited to try and figure out each puzzle. Also, the story they went with is constructed in such a way that every chapter has a meaningful revelation about multiple characters. By making the game center on one case, which plays out over one night, the game feels so incredibly compact. The whole game feels like those it's-now-or-never moments nearing the end of a Phoenix Wright case.
I had only one fear, which was if the game was able to tie all of the story together in a satisfying way. I cannot give a nuanced answer here without spoiling the whole story, so let me go with the quick answer which is: yes, the game is tied together in a way that does justice to all of its characters and doesn't feel forced.
Get this game if you have ever enjoyed a single visual novel. And also get this game if supernatural detective work interests you. This game is a gem.
(In case of both games: if you want the platinum, you can finish the game at your own speed, and then just need a little while for cleanup. No need to read any guides whatsoever.)
Any positive feelings I have about the stuff this game does right (space exploration and the little planets were a nice touch) were completely undermined by the way the game handles Clank sections. I hated them with a passion. Completely destroys the pacing of the game, bland time-consuming puzzles and also it just makes the platforming harder and slower as Ratchet until you get the admittedly fun hoverboots. The games just continue to get streamlined and forced down the stupid ‘cinematic shooter’ route though, the tight platforming is completely stripped by now, with no wall jumping or crouching at all. The trophy list was straight forward, 100% on hard then a challenge mode playthrough. Challenge mode was incredibly boring, there’s no trophy for maxing out weapons so just a bland run through of the game which makes you think even less of it. I can’t stress enough how much the game has been smoothed out to create a pale imitation of the PS2 games, it’s insane. The most exciting part of the game was beating the final boss on challenge mode while listening to Atari Teenage Riot, which at least livened things up a bit. And apparently the next few games are worse!!!
@Bentleyma Oh, cheers! Didn't know that, so will take a look!
Congratulations on the Spidey platinum, by the way. Same to @Splat and double to @nessisonett for bravely battling through what unfortunately became a disappointing slog.

Maybe for you. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I'm honestly impressed by @LtSarge and @nessisonett's dedication to keep playing games to 100% whilst also just... not having a good time? What possesses you people to torture yourself so, haha?!
